What a mobile EGR removal visit looks like in Stalybridge

Here is what happens when we come to you:

We arrive at your location.

Home, commercial yard, depot, or car park, the vehicle stays where it is. No recovery, no garage appointment, no need to take time out of the working day to go anywhere.

Pre-remap diagnostic.

We connect to the OBD port and read all current fault codes before doing anything. You get a clear picture of where the vehicle stands before we start.

ECU remap via OBD port.

We write the modified map that removes the EGR system from the ECU's operating instructions. The valve stays physically in place, nothing is unbolted, nothing removed from the engine bay.

Verification.

The modified map is confirmed, the engine is restarted, and the result is checked before we proceed to the final step.

Fault codes cleared.

EGR-related fault codes are removed from the system. Done.

Most visits run 60 to 90 minutes from arriving to packing up. The vehicle is ready to use when we leave.

You do not need to arrange recovery, book a garage bay, or have the vehicle trailered anywhere. It stays on your drive, in your yard, or in a car park off Melbourne Street, wherever it is when you call.

What the remap actually does

The ECU remap removes the EGR system from the engine's software. The ECU stops sending commands to the EGR valve. The valve stays physically in the engine but the engine no longer uses it, and the conditions that cause carbon fouling, valve failure, and fault codes are eliminated at the source.

“EGR removal” and “EGR delete” are the same service. Same modification, same OBD port connection, same outcome. Whichever term you searched for brought you to the right place.

Fault codes logged against the EGR system are cleared as part of the process. Limp mode triggered by an EGR fault resolves. The modification is permanent, the same EGR fault does not return.

Cost compared to the alternative

The visit, remap, and full verification cost £220. One line item. No call-out charge on top, no parts, no labour rate.

A replacement EGR valve typically costs £300 to £700 fitted, more if access is complicated or if ancillary parts need replacing at the same time. And a replacement resets the fault clock without changing the conditions that caused the build-up. On a diesel running short Tameside routes, the carbon accumulation cycle restarts from day one.

For operators running more than one vehicle, the saving per unit compounds. Fleet and trade enquiries are welcome, call to discuss scheduling.

Stalybridge and Tameside coverage

We cover Stalybridge and the surrounding Tameside area including Ashton-under-Lyne, Dukinfield, Hyde, and Mossley. Stalybridge sits around 15 miles from our Eccles base, with good motorway access. The industrial and commercial areas around Tameside Business Park and the estates off Mottram Road are typical territory for us. Same-day and next-day appointments are common.

FAQs

Can you handle multiple vehicles in the same visit?
Yes, subject to scheduling. If you have more than one vehicle at the same site, call ahead and we will arrange a visit that covers as many as practical in one session. Fleet rates apply per vehicle at £220 each.
What if the vehicle has pre-existing fault codes that are not EGR-related?
We read all fault codes in the pre-remap diagnostic and log what is there before starting. EGR-related codes are cleared as part of the modification. Non-EGR codes are reported to you, we do not clear codes that are unrelated to the EGR remap, and we do not charge for identifying them.
What if the ECU will not communicate at the start of the job?
Communication failures via OBD are usually caused by a wiring issue, a blown fuse, or a damaged OBD port rather than the ECU itself. If we cannot establish communication on arrival, we will diagnose the access issue and advise you on next steps. In cases where the ECU genuinely cannot be accessed, we do not charge for the visit.
What is your coverage radius from Stalybridge?
We operate across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas from our Eccles base. Stalybridge and the wider Tameside borough sit well within that range. If you are in a neighbouring area and unsure whether we cover you, call 0161 694 7331 and we will confirm.
