What the software modification does
EGR removal is a software-based modification to the vehicle's ECU, the same operation whether you have searched “EGR removal” or “EGR delete.” The two terms describe the same service. The ECU is reprogrammed to stop commanding the EGR valve, which means the exhaust gas recirculation cycle is permanently switched off in software. The valve stays physically in place; no blanking plate, no physical deletion, no hardware work of any kind.
The result: the ECU no longer triggers fault codes for the EGR system, limp mode caused by an EGR fault is resolved, and the modification holds unless the ECU is reflashed back to stock. A clean, permanent software change carried out through the OBD port in around an hour.
