Renault EGR delete

Master tippers on the tip run, Trafics on trade and courier rounds, Kangoos parked outside every job in town. The use that fouls a Renault's EGR is the use we come out to. Mobile software delete at your yard, depot or home, £220.

Call 0161 694 7331 with the reg and we will confirm the engine and a time.

How Renault vans get used

The Renaults we see are working vans, and most of them do the same day's work. A Trafic leaves the yard early, does four or five jobs across town, calls at the merchant and comes back in the afternoon traffic. A Master runs as a Luton on removals, a dropside for the builder or a chassis cab with a tail-lift that idles at every stop. A Kangoo does the short-hop trade round where the engine is off more than it is on. Hire fleets run all three on contracts where the van never sees a motorway from one week to the next.

That week is the one the EGR system handles worst. Recirculated exhaust carries soot, and soot only burns off when the intake stays hot for a sustained stretch. Short runs, idling and low-speed loaded running never get it there, so carbon builds on the valve until it stops seating and the cooler behind it clogs and, with age, starts to weep coolant. Plenty of Masters and Trafics also spend part of the week on ground that is not a road: housing developments, farm lanes, plant compounds, yard-to-yard work on unmade tracks. That is the use this service exists for.

What changes after the delete

The ECU stops commanding the EGR valve, so a valve stuck with carbon can no longer put the van into limp mode or store a P0400-series code. The EGR circuit is closed in software, so exhaust gas stops passing through the cooler and the route by which a cracked cooler pushes coolant into the intake is shut. There is no repeat valve bill, because the valve is no longer in use, and nothing comes off the engine. The van stays where it is parked, the remap takes about an hour, and it is back on the job the same afternoon with fuelling, boost and torque exactly as Renault set them.

Renault models and engines we cover

Renault builds the engines for Nissan's and Vauxhall's vans as well as its own, so the faults below turn up under three badges. The Nissan EGR delete hub covers the NV300 and NV400, and the Vauxhall Vivaro and Movano share the same platforms.

Master (Mk2 and Mk3), 2.2 dCi G9T and 2.5 dCi G9U to 2010, then 2.3 dCi M9T 2010 to 2024, Mk4 2.0 Blue dCi from 2024. The M9T sticks its valve and fouls its cooler, the same as the NV400 and Movano B built alongside it. See Renault Master EGR delete.

Trafic (Mk2 and Mk3), 1.9 dCi F9Q, 2.0 dCi M9R and 2.5 dCi G9U to 2014, then 1.6 dCi R9M 2014 to 2019 and 2.0 Blue dCi M9R from 2019. The twin-turbo R9M sticks its valve at relatively low mileage; the M9R sticks its valve and its cooler goes with age. See Renault Trafic EGR delete.

Kangoo, Clio, Megane, Scenic and Captur, 1.5 dCi K9K, 2001 onward. The K9K's valve carbon is one of the best-documented EGR faults on any small diesel. No model page yet; we confirm from the reg.

Megane, Scenic, Kadjar, Espace and Koleos, 1.6 dCi R9M and 2.0 dCi M9R, 2006 onward. Same valve-sticking record as the vans, on cars that mostly do school runs and commutes. Confirmed from the reg.

Every engine above is £220. If yours is not listed, call 0161 694 7331 with the reg and we will check it.

More than one Renault

Run four Trafics and a Master? We do all five in one visit, at the yard or depot, worked around the shift pattern so the vans go out as normal. £220 per vehicle, no call-out charge on top, and each van is off the job for about an hour. Send us the reg for every van beforehand and we confirm the ECU type on each before we set off, so nothing holds up the day.

Questions from Renault owners and operators

Can you come to a site, depot or farm to do a Renault?
Yes. We are mobile only and cover a 40-mile radius of Eccles, which takes in Greater Manchester, most of Lancashire and Cheshire, and Merseyside. A hire depot, a builder's compound, a farmyard or the road outside your house all work. We need the van, the keys and somewhere to stand for an hour.
I run more than one Renault. Can you do them in a single visit?
Yes. Several vans at one address in one visit is the normal way we handle small fleets, and mixed fleets are fine: two Trafics, a Master and a Kangoo in the same yard is one booking. Each van is £220. Give us the reg numbers when you book and we prepare every file in advance.
How long is the Renault off the road for?
About an hour, and it does not go anywhere. We connect at the OBD port where the van is parked, read the stored codes, write the delete, restart and check the live data, then clear the codes. No parts to wait for, no drop-off. If it is in limp mode when we arrive, that does not stop the remap.
Can you do the DPF and the EGR on the Renault in the same visit?
Yes. Both deletes done in the same visit are £445, and the DPF and EGR delete page explains what that covers. It takes a little longer than the EGR alone. If the DPF light has been on alongside the EGR fault, say so when you call and we prepare the right file for both.
