What a software EGR delete actually involves

We remap your vehicle's ECU, the engine control unit, so the EGR valve is no longer part of the engine's operating cycle. The valve stays in the engine. We don't touch it, disconnect it or remove it. The change is entirely in software.

This matters practically: there are no gaskets to disturb, no fixings to shear on a high-mileage engine, no risk of damaging nearby components. We connect to the OBD port, write the revised map to the ECU, confirm the result, and clear any EGR-related fault codes. Done.

Is EGR delete legal for vehicles driven on UK roads?

No. EGR delete is for off-road and track use only. Modifying the ECU in this way removes part of the emissions control system, which means the vehicle no longer meets UK road legal requirements. Do not book this service if your vehicle is used on public roads.

Can the remap be reversed?

Yes, in principle, the original map can be restored. However, this is an additional process. If you're unsure whether a delete is the right choice, speak to us before booking.

What happens to the EGR valve after the remap?

It stays in place, inactive. The ECU no longer sends signals to it, so it neither opens nor closes. Over time this is effectively a neutral state for the component.

I've had the DPF cleaned already, can you delete that at the same time?

Yes. EGR and DPF deletes can be handled in a single visit on most vehicles. Mention both when you call so we can confirm and price accordingly.
