FAQs

What if the fault is a hardware failure rather than a software issue?
If the EGR valve has physically failed or seized, the software delete resolves the ECU's relationship with the fault. The ECU is remapped to remove the EGR system from its logic entirely, it stops monitoring and commanding the valve, so hardware faults within the EGR system become irrelevant. Any additional faults unrelated to the EGR system will be identified in the pre-remap diagnostic.
How is a software EGR delete different from fitting a blanking plate?
A blanking plate physically blocks the EGR passage but leaves the ECU still attempting to command the valve.
