Ford Transit EGR delete
The Ford Transit is the single most common vehicle we get called about. Every week, without fail, Transit owners and fleet operators contact us with the same story: limp mode on the way to a job, white smoke from the exhaust, coolant loss with no obvious leak, or an engine management light that has been on for months. In almost every case, the EGR is the cause.
We carry out a software-only ECU remap through the OBD port. No engine strip. No parts ordered. We come to you.
This service is for off-road and track use only. Many Transit owners use their vehicles for genuine site, agricultural or off-road work, this service is intended for that use case. It is not for road use.
Transit 2.2 TDCi (pre-2016)
The 2.2 TDCi is the engine most people think of when they think of Transit problems. EGR issues on this unit tend to show up in two ways.
EGR cooler failure. The cooler cracks internally, allowing coolant to pass into the intake manifold. You will see white or grey smoke from the exhaust and notice the coolant level dropping without any visible leak. If this is left too long, coolant gets into the combustion chamber and causes serious engine damage.
EGR valve sticking. Carbon builds up on the valve and it stops opening or closing cleanly. The ECU detects the discrepancy and puts the van into limp mode. You lose power and the engine management light comes on.
ECU delete removes both failure modes permanently by instructing the engine management system to stop operating the EGR at all.
Transit 2.0 EcoBlue (post-2016)
The newer 2.0 EcoBlue is a better engine in most respects, but its EGR system is not significantly more durable. We are seeing EGR valve and cooler failures on EcoBlue Transits at lower mileage than the old 2.2, some as early as 60,000 to 80,000 miles. If your newer Transit is already showing EGR codes, the same ECU delete applies.
Transit Custom
The Transit Custom uses variants of the same engine family. EGR faults on the Custom are less dramatic than on the full-size Transit but just as disruptive. The ECU remap is identical.
How it works
You call us on 0161 694 7331. We come to your yard, site or depot, wherever the van is. We plug into the OBD port, carry out the remap, clear the fault codes and sign off the job. Most visits take around 45 minutes. The van does not need to go anywhere.
