Ford Transit Custom EGR delete
Site runs, courier drops, a loaded trailer on the back. The use that fouls a Transit Custom's EGR is the use we come out to. Mobile software delete at your yard, site or home, £220.
Call 0161 694 7331 with the reg and we will confirm the engine and a time.
For off-road and track use only.
How the Transit Custom gets used
A Transit Custom in Greater Manchester rarely gets a long run. Out of the yard early, four or five stops across town, the merchant, the tip, back through the traffic. Ten minutes of engine here, fifteen there, and a lot of sitting at lights with an engine that is warm but never properly hot. Plumbers, sparks, joiners, courier subcontractors and small hire fleets all run the van the same way, because that is the work it was built for. It is also the pattern its EGR system copes with worst. Recirculated exhaust gas carries soot, and soot only burns off when the intake stays hot for a sustained stretch. On short runs it never does, so the deposits build until the valve sticks or the cooler gives out.
A fair share of Customs also spend part of the week on ground that is not a road: housing developments, farm tracks, compound yards, plant hire depots and event fields. That is the use this service is sold for.
What changes after the delete
The ECU stops commanding the EGR valve, so a sticking valve can no longer trip limp mode or store a code. Exhaust gas stops passing through the cooler, so the route by which a cracked 2.2 TDCi cooler feeds coolant into the intake is closed. There is no repeat valve bill, because the valve is no longer in use. The van stays where it is parked, the remap takes about an hour, and it goes back to work the same afternoon with the power it had before the fault started. Fuelling and boost are untouched.
Transit Custom engines we cover
Transit Custom 2.2 TDCi, 2012 to 2016
The Duratorq 2.2 shared with the full-size Transit of the same years. Two failure modes: the valve sticks with carbon, and the cooler cracks internally so coolant disappears with no leak to find. White or grey smoke on a cold start points to the cooler; a plain engine management light and limp mode is usually the valve.
Transit Custom 2.0 EcoBlue, 2016 onward
Fitted from the 2016 changeover through to the 2023 Mk2. A Euro 6 engine with high-pressure and low-pressure EGR circuits, so there are two valves to foul instead of one, and the faults show at lower mileage than the 2.2. The EcoBlue's wet timing belt is a separate problem and the delete does nothing for it.
Both engines are covered. Other Ford vans are on the Ford EGR delete hub; anything not listed, call and we will confirm from the reg.
More than one Transit Custom
If you run three Customs, we do three in one visit, at the yard or depot, worked around your shift pattern so the vans go out as normal. £220 per vehicle, no call-out charge on top. Send us the reg for each van beforehand and we confirm the ECU type on every one before we arrive, so nothing is held up on the day.
