FAQs

Will this fix my limp mode?
If limp mode is being triggered by an EGR fault, yes. The software delete removes the EGR system from the ECU's operating map, the engine management system stops monitoring the EGR valve and stops triggering performance restrictions because of it. If there are other faults also contributing to limp mode, those will need to be addressed separately. We read all codes before writing the remap, so you will have a clear picture of what is present before anything is changed.
What if I've already replaced the EGR valve and it's failed again?
A replacement EGR valve on a diesel used for stop-start urban work will typically foul again in twelve to twenty-four months, for the same reason the first one failed. The conditions have not changed. Fitting a new part does not change the driving pattern or the carbon load in the exhaust. A software delete removes the EGR system from the equation altogether. The physical condition of the valve, whether it is original, replaced, or recently cleaned, makes no difference to the remap.
What if there are fault codes showing that aren't EGR-related?
We read all fault codes before starting the remap and log everything that is present. If there are non-EGR codes, injector faults, DPF issues, sensor errors, we will tell you what they are. The EGR delete will still be carried out and will clear EGR-related codes. Any other faults will need separate attention and we will advise you on what we find.
Do you need to open the engine bay?
No. Everything is done through the OBD diagnostic port, which is located inside the cab, usually under or near the dashboard. We do not open the bonnet, remove anything from the engine bay, or disturb any components. The EGR valve stays physically in place throughout.
