Jaguar XF EGR delete
£220 once. Or a valve and cooler every few years at dealer rates, on a V6 where the cooler sits under the intake and the labour is the bill.

The replacement bill on an XF
What replacing the EGR costs on an XF depends on which of its four diesels you have. On the 2.2 D and the 2.0 Ingenium, the usual failure is a valve stuck with carbon, and a valve is £300 to £700 fitted at an independent garage. The Ingenium has two of them, one on each circuit, and if both have fouled the bill doubles.
On the 2.7 and 3.0 V6 D, the part that fails is the cooler. It sits in the valley of the engine under the intake, with a valve and cooler on each bank, so reaching it means pulling the intake and several hours of labour before a part is fitted. Independent rates are £60 to £100 an hour; a dealer is £100 to £140. Parts, gaskets, coolant and the hours together push a V6 cooler job well past the valve range.
Then the new part goes back into the same duty cycle that fouled the first one. Short runs, cold intake, carbon. The second failure is on your money, and the third.
Clean, replace or delete
| Option | Typical cost | How long it lasts | Road-legal? | |---|---|---|---| | Clean | £80 to £200 | Months to a year or two, depending on use | Yes | | Replace | £300 to £700+ fitted; more for a V6 cooler | Until the new part fouls | Yes | | Software delete | £220 once | Permanent | No, off-road and track use only |
The honest reading of that table: if the XF is used on the road, cleaning is the right call and the right first step. Replacement is the right call when a valve or cooler has physically failed on a road car. The delete is for the off-road or track XF whose owner is on a second or third EGR bill and does not want a fourth.
XF engines covered
XF X250 2.7 V6 D, 2008 to 2009
The AJD-V6 carried over from the S-Type. Cooler failure with coolant loss, valve faults alongside. The expensive one to fix by replacement.
XF X250 3.0 V6 D, 2009 to 2015
Same V6 family, twin-turbo, badged 3.0 D, S and later 275 and 300. Same buried cooler, same labour, same coolant-loss route. Shared with the Land Rover Discovery as the TDV6 and SDV6.
XF X250 2.2 D, 2011 to 2015
The PSA DW12 four-cylinder, also fitted to the Freelander 2 and the Evoque. A cheaper valve that sticks repeatedly rather than a cooler that cracks. The best case for cleaning on a road car and the most repetitive bill on any other.
XF X260 2.0 Ingenium D, 2015 onward
The AJ200D four-cylinder in 163, 180 and 240 PS forms, with later D180 and D200 badges on the 2020 facelift cars. Euro 6, with a high-pressure and a low-pressure EGR circuit. Two valves and two coolers to foul, and the intake behind them.
XF X260 3.0 V6 D, 2015 to 2020
The AJD-V6 again, 300 PS. Same cooler position, same bill.

What happens on the day
We come to the car within a 40-mile radius of Eccles: home, office car park, wherever it lives. We connect at the OBD port under the dash, read every stored code, read the ECU file and write the EGR delete into it. Engine restarted, live data checked to confirm the ECU is no longer commanding the valves, codes cleared. Roughly an hour, and nothing is unbolted. If the DPF is blocked as well, both are done in the same visit for £445: see DPF and EGR delete.
