Which engine is in your Proace
The Proace is a PSA van with a Toyota badge, so its engines and its EGR faults are the ones we see on the Peugeot Expert and Citroën Dispatch. Three engine families across two generations, and the year on the plate tells you most of it.

The DV6 1.6 is the engine most Mk1 and early Mk2 Proaces carry. Town work never gets the intake hot enough to burn soot off, so carbon builds on the valve seat, the ECU logs P0401 or P0404, and the van drops into limp mode. The DW10 2.0 sticks the same way and adds a cooler bypass flap that jams on later engines. On the Euro 6 versions of the 2.0, and on the 1.5 that replaced the 1.6 in 2019, there is a second low-pressure loop with its own valve and cooler, so two circuits to foul instead of one. The Mk2 is the same van as the Peugeot Expert and the Citroën Dispatch.
How the delete is done on the Proace
You call 0161 694 7331 with the reg and the engine.
We confirm the ECU type before we set off.
We come to the van, at your yard, depot, home or workplace, anywhere within a 40-mile radius of Eccles.
Before anything is written we read every stored code and note the live EGR readings, so we know what we are dealing with.
We read the ECU file at the OBD port, write the EGR delete into it and load it back.
The engine is restarted and the live data checked: no EGR command, no flow check, no fault flagged.
Codes cleared, done.
Typically 60 to 90 minutes, and the van does not leave your premises.
Delete versus replacement on the Proace
An EGR clean on the DV6 is £80 to £200 and buys a few months before the carbon is back. A new valve is £300 to £700 fitted at an independent garage, the 1.6's at the lower end and the 2.0's higher, and on a Euro 6 engine there is a second low-pressure valve and cooler that can need doing as well. Labour is £60 to £100 an hour independent or £100 to £140 at a dealer. Then the new valve goes back into the same multi-drop work that fouled the old one.

Off-road and track use
The delete is for off-road and track use only. A van with the EGR removed from its software does not meet the emissions requirements for use on a public road, and the owner is responsible for how the vehicle is used after the work. Plenty of Proaces spend their working lives on housing sites, plant yards and private estates, and that is the use the service exists for.
