Once the remap is written, the ECU no longer commands the EGR valve. Fault codes linked to EGR circuit performance are cleared. Limp mode caused by EGR faults does not return. The modification is permanent unless deliberately reversed.
Compare this with physical EGR removal: that requires unbolting the valve, fitting a blanking plate, and working around fixings that are often heavily corroded on older vehicles. The software route carries none of that risk or complication.
