What a mobile EGR removal visit looks like in Leyland

Here is exactly what happens when we attend a job in Leyland:

We arrive at your location.

Home driveway, commercial yard, Farington Moss depot, or car park, the vehicle stays exactly where it is. No recovery van, no garage booking required.

Pre-remap diagnostic.

We connect to the OBD port and read every current fault code before we touch anything. You get a clear picture of what the ECU is logging and what we are dealing with.

ECU remap.

We write the modified map that disables the EGR system in software. The valve stays physically in place, nothing is removed, nothing unbolted, the engine bay stays closed.

Verification.

The modified ECU map is confirmed, the engine is restarted, and the result is checked before we move on to the final step.

Fault codes cleared.

EGR-related codes are removed from the system. The job is done.

Most visits run 60 to 90 minutes from arriving to packing up. You do not need to move the vehicle, arrange access to a garage, or take time away from the yard to manage the visit. We arrive, carry out the work, and leave.

What the EGR removal actually does

The remap rewrites the section of the ECU's operating map that controls the EGR system. Once the modified map is in place, the ECU no longer commands the EGR valve to open. The valve sits dormant, physically in place, mechanically undisturbed, but the engine no longer cycles exhaust gas through it.

“EGR removal” and “EGR delete” describe exactly the same modification. Whether you searched for one term or the other, you are looking at the same service: a software remap that disables the EGR system and clears the associated fault codes.

The outcome is permanent. There is no part that can foul again, no schedule of cleaning, no replacement interval. Limp mode caused by the EGR fault clears once the codes are gone and the engine is running the modified map.

Cost, what £220 covers and what it compares against

The £220 fixed price covers the callout to your Leyland location, the pre-remap diagnostic, the ECU remap itself, post-remap verification, and fault code clearance. One payment, no extras added on arrival.

For comparison, a replacement EGR valve on a typical diesel van costs between £300 and £600 in parts and labour, and that is before any complications with seized bolts, pipework, or the labour rate on a full-day garage job. A replacement resets the clock; it does not change the conditions that caused the original fault.

For fleet operators running multiple vehicles out of Leyland or the surrounding Farington and Worden areas, the saving per vehicle compounds quickly. We are happy to discuss fleet rates for multiple units on a single visit or across a short run of bookings, call to discuss.

If the vehicle also has a DPF fault, we can handle both in the same visit. An EGR and DPF combination is £445 total.

Frequently asked questions

Can you handle multiple vehicles in the same visit?
Yes. If you have more than one vehicle at the same location, we can work through them in sequence during a single callout. This is the most efficient option for fleet operators, call 0161 694 7331 to discuss the number of vehicles and we will confirm the schedule and pricing before we attend.
What if the vehicle has pre-existing fault codes that are not EGR-related?
We log all fault codes present before we start, EGR and non-EGR. The remap addresses the EGR codes specifically. Any pre-existing codes from other systems will be noted and reported to you, but they fall outside the scope of the EGR removal. We will not clear codes unrelated to the EGR system without discussing them with you first.
What if the ECU will not communicate at the start of the job?
We carry a range of OBD interface tools and can attempt multiple connection protocols before declaring a vehicle uncommunicable. Communication failures are uncommon but do occur on high-mileage vehicles or where the OBD port has been damaged. If we cannot complete the job, there is no charge for the visit.
What is your coverage radius from Leyland?
We cover a 40-mile radius from our Eccles base as standard. Leyland sits well within that. For operators needing coverage further out, Chorley, Preston, Bamber Bridge, that is also within range. Call to confirm your specific location.
