Why choose us

Once the remap is done, the EGR valve is removed from the engine's software map. The ECU stops commanding it. The fault code does not return. Limp mode caused by the EGR system does not come back. That is the practical outcome, not a temporary fix that buys a few more months before the same warning light comes on again.

We carry out the modification at your location in Glossop. No garage, no recovery, no dealer appointment. We connect through the OBD port, write the modified map, verify the result, and clear the stored codes before we leave. £220, one visit, permanent resolution. Backed by SGR Automotive's track record across more than 7,000 vehicles.

The service is software-based throughout. No engine bay access is required, no components are removed or disturbed. If your vehicle also needs a DPF delete, both remaps can be handled in the same visit at a combined price of £445.

Glossop sits at the edge of our Greater Manchester coverage area, close to our 40-mile radius from Eccles. We confirm availability for High Peak locations at the time of booking, call 0161 694 7331 and we will give you a clear answer on the nearest available slot.

What the delete involves

We connect to the vehicle's OBD port. We read the existing ECU map, prepare a modified version with the EGR cycle disabled in the engine's software parameters, and write that map back to the ECU. The EGR valve stays physically in place throughout, nothing is unbolted, no blanking plate is fitted.

Once the modified map is confirmed correctly written, we restart the engine, verify the result, and clear all stored fault codes. The modification is permanent unless deliberately reversed. The valve remains in situ; the ECU simply no longer instructs it to operate.

Total time on site is typically 60-90 minutes. The vehicle is driven away on the same day. No recovery is required.

How the day works

We arrive at your location, home, yard, car park, or business premises in Glossop or the surrounding area. Before any remap is written, we read all current fault codes from the ECU and log them. We then write the modified map via the OBD port. Once written, we verify the map is correct, restart the engine, and run a final check. All stored codes, including EGR-related codes, are cleared before we leave.

If a DPF delete is needed at the same time, both remaps are written in a single visit. Mention it when you call to confirm the booking.

Local context: Glossop and High Peak

Glossop is a market town at the foot of the Pennines, approximately 14 miles east of Manchester city centre. The Snake Pass route is the main arterial route west to the city, with Simmondley, Hadfield, and Padfield on the surrounding roads.

The town sits at the junction between urban commuter driving and the longer rural runs through the Peak District. Diesel vehicles doing the Manchester commute via the Snake Pass or Woodhead Pass follow exactly the kind of route, extended stop-start at Manchester end, cold starts in the hills, that causes inconsistent EGR valve performance and accelerates carbon fouling over time.

We travel from Eccles via the main routes. Availability for Glossop is confirmed at point of booking, call 0161 694 7331.

FAQs

Will the EGR warning light go off after the modification?
Yes. The remap removes the EGR system from the ECU's operating parameters, and all stored fault codes, including those that triggered the EGR warning light, are cleared before we leave. Because the ECU no longer monitors the EGR system after the remap, the light does not return for EGR-related reasons.
Can you reverse an EGR delete if needed?
Yes. The modification is software-based, so the original ECU map can be rewritten if required. If the vehicle needs to be returned to its original configuration, call 0161 694 7331 to discuss options.
How soon can you visit Glossop?
Glossop is at the edge of our standard coverage area. Availability depends on scheduling at the time of booking. Call 0161 694 7331 and we will confirm the earliest available slot, same-day or next-day is possible but subject to the day's schedule.
Does an ECU remap affect my vehicle's warranty?
A remap modifies the ECU software and will typically void the manufacturer warranty on the engine management system. This applies to any ECU remap, not only the EGR delete. If your vehicle is still under an active manufacturer warranty, factor this in before booking. Call us to discuss your specific situation.
