MAN TGE EGR delete
Multi-drop rounds, tipper work, site runs. The use that fouls a TGE's EGR is the use we come out to.
Mobile software delete, £220.
For off-road and track use only.
How the TGE gets used
The TGE is a Crafter with a MAN badge and a truck dealer behind it, so it tends to be bought by operators who already run MAN trucks: haulage yards, builders' merchants, plant hire firms, councils and utility contractors. It turns up as a 3.5-tonne panel van on a parcel round, a Luton on a removals contract, a tipper or dropside on a groundworks site and a 17-seat minibus on a school or community-transport run. Most of them are on a lease or a contract-hire agreement and do a full working week.
That working week is the problem. A parcel round is a hundred stops with the engine off and on at each; a tipper spends half its day idling on site waiting for the digger; a minibus does the same six-mile route twice a day. The intake never gets hot enough for long enough to burn the soot out of the recirculated exhaust. On the TGE's Euro 6 2.0 TDI that means two circuits fouling at once: the high-pressure valve sticking with carbon and the low-pressure valve and cooler clogging behind the particulate filter. The van drops into limp mode on the way to the next drop.
What changes after the delete
The ECU stops commanding both EGR valves, so a valve stuck with carbon can no longer put the TGE into limp mode. Both circuits are closed in software, so exhaust gas no longer passes through either cooler and the fouling stops. No EGR fault codes, no repeat valve bill, no van at the dealer for two days waiting on a part. The valves, coolers and pipework stay on the engine; nothing is removed and nothing is ordered. The van stays in the yard for the visit and is back on the round the same hour. Fuelling, boost and payload torque stay as the factory set them.
TGE engines we cover
TGE 2.0 TDI, 102 to 177 PS, 2017 onward
One engine family across the whole range: the EA288-based 2.0 TDI in 102, 122, 140 and 177 PS outputs, in 2WD and 4x4 forms. It is the same engine in the same body as the Volkswagen Crafter Mk2, and it fouls the same way in both. Euro 6 from launch, so every TGE runs the twin-circuit EGR with high-pressure and low-pressure loops. The delete covers both. Every TGE body style is covered too: panel van, Luton, tipper, dropside, chassis cab and minibus.
If your TGE has been converted and the ECU has been touched by the body builder, tell us when you call. Other makes we cover are on the vehicles page. Anything you are unsure of, call 0161 694 7331 and we will confirm from the reg.
More than one TGE
TGEs come in fleets, and the fleet is where we do most of them. We can work through several in one visit at your yard or depot and fit the appointments around the shift pattern, so each van is off the job for about an hour and no longer, and the round still goes out. It is £220 per vehicle. Send us the reg of each van before the visit and we will confirm the engine and ECU type for every one in advance.
Questions from TGE operators
Can you come to a site, depot or farm to do a TGE?
I run more than one TGE. Can you do them in a single visit?
How long is the TGE off the road for?
Can you do the DPF and the EGR on the TGE in the same visit?
Arrange a visit for your TGE: call 0161 694 7331, tell us where the van is and when it is off the job.
It is £220 per vehicle, we come to you anywhere within a 40-mile radius of Eccles, and same-day and next-day slots are common. No call-out charge, no strip-down, nothing removed from the van.
For off-road and track use only.
